Categories group your coupons — Dining, Drinks, Specials — so you can display one group at a time and let visitors browse offers by type.
Managing categories #
Categories live under Coupons → Coupon Categories:

- Name the new category (the slug is generated for you — it's what the shortcode uses).
- Add New Coupon Category saves it.
- Existing categories show how many coupons each contains; click one to rename it.
You can also create categories without leaving the coupon editor — the Coupon Category box on the edit screen has an + Add New Coupon Category link, and checkboxes to assign the coupon to any number of categories.
Displaying a category #
Pass the category slug to the shortcode to show only that group:
[coupon totalcoupons="6" category="dining"]
The Coupon Creator block has the same category picker in its settings. See Displaying Coupons for the rest of the attributes.
Why categorize from day one #
Even with a handful of coupons, categories pay off later: Coupon Creator Pro's [couponloop] filter bar is built on them — visitors filter your full coupon listing by these same categories, so a tidy category set becomes your storefront navigation.
