Getting Started with Coupon Creator

Coupon Creator adds printable coupons to your WordPress site. You design each coupon in the familiar WordPress editor, then place it on any page or post with a shortcode or block — visitors can view it, open a print-friendly version, and bring it to your business.

The Coupons menu #

Everything lives under Coupons in the WordPress admin menu.

On your very first visit — right after activating the plugin — the coupon list opens with a short getting-started panel: a three-step overview, a few things people commonly miss, and an Open the Sample Coupon button. The plugin creates one draft sample coupon on activation so you can poke at a finished example instead of starting from a blank screen; edit it, publish it, or delete it. The panel disappears once you have coupons of your own (or when you dismiss it).

1. Add New Coupon starts a new coupon — see Creating a Coupon.
2. Click any coupon title to edit it. The list also shows each coupon's shortcode (with a Copy Shortcode button), categories, and expiration, and you can filter the list by category or by expiration setting using the dropdowns above it.
3. Hover over a coupon and choose Duplicate to create a copy with the same content, styling, expiration settings, and categories. The copy is published immediately and opens in the editor, so update or switch it to Draft before leaving the screen if it should not be live yet. Preview Print View in the same row opens the coupon's print page.

If a published coupon is missing something it needs to display — a default coupon with an empty Deal field, or an image coupon with no image — the list marks it Incomplete, and the editor shows the same warning with the reason. Drafts are never flagged.

Coupon Categories groups coupons (Dining, Drinks, Specials, and so on) so you can display one group at a time — see Displaying Coupons.

Plugin options #

Coupons → Options holds the site-wide settings.

1. Settings are organized in tabs — defaults for new coupons, link and permalink behavior, display settings, and templating. The Coupon Options & Defaults guide walks through each tab.
2. Click Save Changes after editing any tab.

Your first coupon in three steps #

1. Create — add a coupon under Coupons → Add New Coupon and fill in the deal and terms (Creating a Coupon).
2. Display — put the coupon on a page with the block or the [coupon] shortcode (Displaying Coupons).
3. Print — visitors click the coupon to open its print view (Printing Coupons).
