Pro grows the two free expiration modes into five, including expirations that renew themselves on a schedule.
The five expiration options #
- Expiration Option — choose the mode:
- Ignore Expiration — never expires.
- Expiration Date — expires the day after a fixed date.
- Recurring Expiration — the date rolls forward automatically (weekly, monthly, and so on) so an evergreen offer always shows a live, near-term expiration.
- Expires in X Days — each visitor sees a date X days out, counted from their first view.
- Range Expiration — a start and end date; the coupon only shows inside the window.
- Expiration Date — the fixed or computed date, in the format set by Date Format.
Recurring expiration notes #
Recurring mode shows its own pattern and limit fields when selected. The rollover runs on WordPress cron: when a recurring coupon's date passes, the next date is computed and the coupon keeps showing — up to the recurrence limit, if you set one (developers can adjust it via a filter).
If a recurring coupon ever shows a stale date or stops renewing, work through Recurring expiration troubleshooting — it is almost always a WP-Cron issue.
Expired coupons can be flipped to draft automatically (option on the Display tab), keeping the coupon list clean.
