Slots are the things people sign up for: a two-hour setup shift, a fifteen-minute conference, a table at the bake sale. Each slot carries its own capacity, so Manifyst can close it when it fills and offer a waitlist instead.
Add a slot #
Open the event and choose the Slots tab.

- Add Slot opens the slot form.
- Existing slots list their date, time, capacity, and how many people have signed up. Drag the handle or use the arrow buttons to put the rows in the order attendees should see them. View History opens that slot's capacity audit trail, and Edit or Delete change it.

- Slot Title is what participants see — "Setup Crew", "3:30 pm", "Bake Sale Table".
- Capacity is how many people the slot holds. Someone signing up for more than one spot (a couple volunteering together, say) uses that many. Set it to
0for a visible placeholder row that stays closed until you raise the capacity. - Waitlist is how many extra people may queue once the slot is full. Leave it at
0to close the slot outright when capacity runs out.
Date, Start, and End are optional. Fill them in when the slot is a specific shift; leave them blank when the slot is just a role ("Bring the ice"). Active (open for signups) lets you take a slot off the board without deleting it or losing its signups.
Turn on Section heading row when the title should divide a classic signup sheet or committee table rather than accept signups—for example, “Room Parents” above several classroom rows. Headings span the table, take no capacity, and can be reordered with the other rows.
Click Add Slot. Repeat for each shift.
Tip: For appointment-style booking — parent-teacher conferences, office hours — make one slot per time with a capacity of
1, and set Max signups per user to1on the event's details tab so nobody books two times.
What participants see #
On the front end, each slot shows its own availability and its own button.

- Every slot is listed with its time and description.
- The availability badge reflects the current count: "5 spots available" while there is room, "Full — 4 waitlist spots" once capacity is gone. (You can hide the spot count for the whole site under Settings → Display.)
- When Show signups publicly is on for the event, the people already signed up appear underneath, as a first name and last initial.
When a slot is full, the button becomes Join Waitlist. See Waitlists and Cancellations for what happens next.
