Check the event itself before rebuilding permalinks. Manifyst flushes its event URL rules
when the plugin is activated and whenever the event URL slug changes, so a stale permalink
cache is no longer the most likely cause.
Check these in order:
- Is the event still a draft? Draft events have no public URL. Use Preview as
Attendee while building it, or set Status toActivewhen it is ready. Cancelled
and completed events keep their existing pages so visitors can see that signups are closed. - Is it private or password protected? A Private event gives logged-out visitors a login
prompt rather than a 404. A Password protected event gives them a password form. If you
see either prompt, the event URL is working; sign in or enter the event password. See
How do password-protected events work?. - Did you use Manifyst's URL? Use Copy link on the event's row under
Manifyst → Events rather than typing the URL. - Are pretty permalinks working? Under Settings → Permalinks, anything other than
Plain will do; Post name is the usual choice. Click Save Changes once to
rebuild WordPress's URL rules, then reload the event page.
If an active event still returns a 404 after that, ask your host to confirm that the
server honors WordPress rewrite rules. A working WordPress page with a custom permalink
should not bypass index.php.
If the event page is fine but a page carrying [manifyst_event] shows nothing, that's a different problem — check that the ID or slug in the shortcode matches a real event. See Where do I put the Manifyst shortcodes?.
