Recurring Events

1 min read

A weekly volunteer morning, a monthly meeting, a shift sheet that repeats all season — set the schedule once and Manifyst creates a separate, complete signup sheet for every date. Each date has its own slots, signups, and waitlist, so filling this Friday never touches next Friday.

Make an event repeat #

In the event form's Date & Time section, turn on Repeats. The Repeating event starting point turns it on for you.

The Repeats schedule on a repeating event

  1. The series banner confirms you are editing the repeating template — the blueprint the dates are created from. View all occurrences lists every date.
  2. Repeats — create an occurrence for each date turns the schedule on and off.
  3. The schedule builder sets how often the event repeats, which weekdays it lands on, and whether it ends after a number of times, on a date, or keeps going.

Add your slots and items before or after turning on Repeats — dates created from then on copy them automatically. The nearest dates are created as soon as you save; a long or never-ending schedule keeps filling itself in about six months ahead, and the series banner shows Generating dates… while that finishes in the background.

Every date is its own sheet #

View all occurrences (or the series badge in the events list) shows the whole series.

The events list filtered to one series

  1. The Showing one series chip means the list is filtered to this series.
  2. The series badge marks events that belong to a repeating series.
  3. Each row is a full event with its own slots, signups, and waitlist.

Because each date is independent, changing the template's slots or items only shapes dates created afterward — sheets that already exist keep what they have.

Edit one date or the whole series #

Saving a change to any date in a series asks how far it should reach.

The save scope chooser

  1. This event only changes just this date. This and following events carries the change to this date and everything after it. All events in the series updates everything.
  2. Confirm with Save.

Dates never spread across the series — moving one date moves only that date, and the old date will not be re-created. Deleting works the same way, with the same three choices; if the dates you are deleting already have signups, Manifyst warns you first and offers to cancel the events instead.

Stop repeating #

On the repeating template, turn Repeats off and save. No new dates are created from then on; the dates that already exist stay untouched and keep taking signups. Turn Repeats back on later and the schedule picks up where it left off.

What participants see #

A date's public page shows the schedule and the rest of the series.

A repeating date's public signup page

  1. The Repeats line summarizes the schedule in plain language.
  2. Other dates links to the next few sheets in the series, so someone who can't make this week can pick another.
