Your Steuard license turns on automatic updates and support for the site it's activated on. Activating a key takes a moment and only needs to be done once per site.
Where to enter your key #
In your WordPress admin, go to Steuard → Menu Options and open the Licenses tab.
- Paste the license key from your Artifex Routing Co purchase receipt (or your account) into the License Key field.
- Click Activate.
- When it succeeds, the tab shows the license as active along with its expiration date.
Once the license is active, Steuard updates appear on your Dashboard → Updates and Plugins screens automatically, the same as any other plugin — you don't have to download a zip to update.
Moving Steuard to another site #
A license is tied to the sites it's activated on. Before you move Steuard — for example from a staging site to production — open the Licenses tab on the old site and click Deactivate, then activate the same key on the new site. That frees the activation so it can be reused.
If activation fails #
- Double-check the key is copied exactly, with no leading or trailing spaces.
- Confirm the license hasn't expired — an expired license can't be activated until it's renewed. See What does my Steuard license include?.
- If you've used all of your license's site activations, deactivate it on a site you no longer need it on first.
