For Toast Standard API access, create or view credentials in Toast Web under Integrations → Toast API access → Manage credentials. You need Toast's 8.4 Manage Integrations permission for every location included in the credential.
Standard API access is part of Toast's Restaurant Management Suite Essentials subscription and above. A location on a lower tier cannot create credentials, so check the subscription before buying Steuard for Toast sync; the manual, composed and combined menu types work without Toast on any tier.
When creating a Standard API credential, select the restaurant locations Steuard may read and include at least the menus:read scope. Include restaurants:read when available. Toast shows the Client ID and Client Secret on the credential's details page and sends a confirmation email containing the selected location GUIDs.
Paste the values into Steuard → Menu Options → Connections:
- Toast API Hostname: the production hostname Toast supplies for your API access.
- Client ID: the credential's client identifier.
- Client Secret: the matching secret; treat it like a password.
Partner and custom integrations receive their credentials and environment hostname from the Toast integrations team instead. Toast documents both paths in its authentication guide and its Standard API credential instructions.
Do not email or paste a Client Secret into a support message. If it may have been exposed, rotate it in Toast and replace it in Steuard.
