Steuard requires WordPress 6.6 or newer and PHP 8.2 or newer. It is designed for a single WordPress site; do not network-activate it on WordPress Multisite. You do not need Toast POS to use Steuard because the built-in editor can create menus by hand.
Before installing #
In WordPress, open Tools → Site Health → Info to check the WordPress and PHP versions. If either version is below Steuard's requirement, ask the hosting provider to update it before activating the plugin.
Back up the site before installing on an established production website. This is especially important when replacing Menu Crafter; see How do I migrate from Menu Crafter? before removing the older plugin.
Install the plugin ZIP #
- Download the Steuard ZIP from your Artifex Routing Co account or purchase receipt.
- In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin.
- Choose the ZIP file and click Install Now.
- When installation finishes, click Activate Plugin.
- Open Steuard → Menu Options → Dashboard.
If Steuard detects an unsupported WordPress or PHP version, it displays an administrator notice and does not initialize its menus, blocks, or settings. Update the missing requirement, then reload the Plugins screen.
Choose the first setup path #
The Dashboard offers three ways to begin:
- Start with a sample menu creates an editable example.
- Create a menu manually opens a blank menu editor.
- Configure Connection connects to Toast POS.
Continue with Getting Started with Steuard for the complete setup checklist and page-publishing steps.
Updates and licensing #
Steuard works after installation without a Toast connection, but automatic plugin updates and support require an active Steuard license. Enter the key under Steuard → Menu Options → Licenses. See Activating Your License.
Steuard is GPLv2 software. The commercial license controls access to updates and support rather than whether the installed code runs. See What software license does the plugin use?.
Deactivation, deletion, and Multisite #
Deactivating Steuard stops its scheduled work but keeps settings, manual menus, and saved connections. Deleting it through the Plugins screen removes Steuard data. Read What do deactivating and deleting Steuard remove? before uninstalling.
Steuard is intended for single-site installations. Network activation is not supported; on a Multisite network, evaluate it only as a per-site plugin after making a backup.
