Steuard supports ordinary item prices, price-by-size lists such as Glass/Bottle or Small/Large, and several display rules for cents and zero-priced items. One site-wide currency setting applies to manual and POS-synced menus. Each Menu post owns how its prices appear in every block, shortcode, and classic-editor placement.
Choose the site-wide currency #
Go to Steuard → Menu Options → Display and choose Currency. Available choices are:
- USD ($)
- EUR (€)
- GBP (£)
- CAD (CA$)
- AUD (A$)
- Hide currency
Click Save Changes. This setting changes the symbol Steuard displays; it does not convert amounts or exchange rates. Choose the currency that already matches the prices in Toast and in manual menus. Hide currency removes the symbol but keeps the numeric price.
Add one price to a manual item #
Open Steuard → Menus, edit a menu, and enter the amount in the item's Price field. Enter the amount in the site's major currency unit—for example, 12 or 12.50, not cents.

For a POS-synced menu, prices come from Toast. Change the source price in Toast and let Steuard refresh; POS data is not edited in the Steuard menu editor.
Add prices by size #
Use size prices when one item has choices such as Glass/Bottle, Cup/Bowl, or 1 oz/2 oz.
- Expand the item's Details.
- Turn on Price by size.
- Click + Add size for each choice.
- Enter a size name and price in every row.
- Drag the rows into the order diners should see.
- Preview the menu, then publish or update it.
When size pricing is enabled, the size rows replace the item's single price. A size without both a name and a valid non-negative price is not saved.
Control price presentation on the Menu post #
Go to Steuard → Menus, open the Menu post, and select its Display tab. The Prices and Sizes groups contain the price options, and the live preview updates as you change them.
- Always show cents displays
$4.00. When off, a whole amount displays as$4, while$3.50keeps its cents. Steuard does not round away a non-zero fractional amount. - Hide currency symbol displays
12instead of$12without changing the amount. - Stack price below description moves a Basic-layout price below the item text.
- Items priced at $0.00 can show normally, keep the item while hiding its price, or hide the complete item.
- Size price display chooses one of five multi-size presentations — see the next section.
- Tidy size labels normalizes variations such as
1oz,1 OZ, and1 oz.for display without changing the source data. It also expands common POS abbreviations:GLSandglbecomeglass,BTLbecomesbottle,sm/lgbecomesmall/large, and so on. - Size notes (parentheses) keeps a parenthetical note in the label, removes it, or displays it as secondary text.
Turning off Show prices hides prices but preserves the saved price choices. The zero-price rule can still remove zero-priced items even when all other prices are hidden.
Choose a size price style #
All four layouts offer five ways to present a multi-size price list. The selected style is saved on the Menu post, so every placement of that menu stays consistent.

- Stacked (the default): one size per line, label left and price right, joined by a dotted leader.
- Stacked — plain: the same rows without leaders; prices right-align in even figures, and a parenthetical note stays inline after the label.
- Inline: every size on one line, separated by slashes.
- Badges: each size and price becomes a compact pill. Pills wrap naturally, which makes this the sturdiest choice for narrow columns and phones. Badge colors follow your tag colors unless a theme sets the
--steuard-size-badge-background-color/--steuard-size-badge-text-colorCSS properties. - Columns: the classic wine-list look. When every size-priced item in a section offers the same sizes, the size names print once as a header row and the prices line up in columns beneath it. An item whose sizes don't match — and every item on small phone screens — falls back to the plain stacked rows, so the menu never breaks. Tidy size labels helps here: with it on,
GLS,glass, andGlassall count as the same size.

The Basic layout keeps its compact look for Stacked. Trattoria and Pub use the same five choices, adapted to their typography and spacing.
Use the saved price settings everywhere #
The Steuard Menu block, the classic-editor meta box, and the [steuard_menu] shortcode each select one published Menu post. They use that post's saved price settings. To change a style, edit the Menu post once instead of changing each page.
For shortcode attributes and examples, see the Steuard Menu Shortcode Reference. For the rest of the block controls, see Adding Menus with the Block Editor.
Troubleshooting a price that looks wrong #
- Confirm that the site-wide currency matches the source data.
- For a manual menu, check whether Price by size is enabled; size rows replace the single Price field.
- For Toast data, clear Steuard's menu cache after correcting the source price. See My menu is out of date—how do I refresh it?.
- Clear any page or CDN cache after Steuard has refreshed.
