A chat goes onto a page with a shortcode. Each chat has its own — copy it from the chat's edit screen and paste it into any page, post, or shortcode-capable widget area.
Copy the shortcode #
Open the chat under Wyregraf → All Chats. The shortcode sits in its own box beside the editor.

Paste it into the page where the assistant should live. The vectorid is what ties the shortcode to this chat, so use the copied version rather than retyping it.
The chat on your page #

- With Wyregraf Pro, the widget includes a chat sidebar: visitors can keep several conversations going and start a fresh one at any time, each with its own history. The main pane opens with the welcome message from the chat's Context tab, plus ready-made sample questions a visitor can click to get started.
- Questions go in here — the placeholder and submit label are yours to set, and the widget renders in the theme chosen on the chat's Style tab.
When a visitor asks a question, the assistant answers from your indexed content and cites its source beneath the reply — the citation uses the title and URL from the embedding's Metadata tab.

Conversations keep their context: follow-up questions can lean on what was already discussed, up to the history limit set on the chat's Restrictions tab.
Let visitors narrow the search (Pro) #
If your chat spans several namespaces, Wyregraf Pro can hand the narrowing to the visitor: turn on Show Namespace on the chat's Main tab, and the widget grows a namespace dropdown.

A visitor who picks one or more namespaces limits their next question to just that content — a docs chat covering three products, say, lets the visitor pick theirs and stop getting answers about the other two. The two fields under the switch set the label shown above the dropdown (default "Namespace") and the placeholder inside it (default "Filter by…").
If the chat doesn't appear #
- Make sure the chat post is published and the shortcode's
vectoridmatches it. - If the widget renders but never answers, check that the chat's profiles have valid API keys and that its content is indexed.
- A theme or plugin JavaScript conflict can block the widget; the chat's edit screen warns you when it detects one.
